- What is BAC Water?
Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is sterile water for injection containing 0.9 % benzyl alcohol as an antimicrobial preservative. It prevents bacterial growth in the container, allowing for multiple withdrawals from the same vial – ideal for the reconstitution of lyophilized peptides in the research laboratory.
Application
BAC Water is used for the reconstitution of lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides. After dissolving the peptide powder, the solution remains stable and sterile for longer due to the benzyl alcohol than with ordinary sterile water.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much BAC Water do I need for my peptide vial?
The exact amount depends on the desired target concentration — you can find an example calculation and the common dilution levels in our application instructions.
Why not just use normal sterile water?
The benzyl alcohol it contains has an antimicrobial effect, thus enabling multiple, safe withdrawals from the same bottle over several days — this would not be advisable with pure sterile water without preservatives.
