Selank 10mg – Synthetic Tuftsin Analogue from Neuropeptide Research
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. It is based on the natural immunopeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) and has been extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence to significantly increase its stability against enzymatic degradation. In Russia, Selank is approved as a nasal spray for anxiolysis research; its scientific investigations primarily focus on neuropeptide and enkephalinase research.
This 10mg vial is suitable for research approaches related to enkephalinase inhibition, GABAergic signaling pathways and BDNF expression.
Mechanism of action
Selank inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes (enkephalinases) in blood plasma in a dose-dependent manner, thereby prolonging the half-life of endogenous enkephalins – in studies, more effectively than the reference substances bacitracin and puromycin. Additionally, an upregulation of hippocampal BDNF and a modulation of GABAergic gene expression have been described.

Reconstitution: Example calculation
For a working concentration of 10 mg/ml, the 10 mg vial is filled with 1 ml of sterile NaCl solution 0.9% Reconstituted – better suited for subsequent intranasal application than bacteriostatic water (BAC water), whose benzyl alcohol content can irritate the nasal mucosa. Slowly inject the solution along the inner wall of the vial and gently swirl it instead of shaking.
Recommendation for intranasal use
Our product is suitable for intranasal application. Nasal spray pump atomizer (20ml/empty) – The empty amber glass bottle with pump sprayer allows for precise, hygienic dosing of the peptide solution reconstituted with NaCl solution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Selank identical to natural Tuftsin?
No. Selank contains the complete tuftsin sequence (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), but has been extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence to significantly increase enzymatic stability.
How is Selank typically administered in studies?
In the vast majority of studies and in the Russian approval, the application is intranasal.
Quality assurance
Each production batch undergoes independent dual testing: HPLC analysis to determine purity and LC-MS analysis to definitively verify molecular mass and correct peptide sequence. Only after passing this test is a batch released.
