Tesamorelin 10mg – GHRH analogue from research on visceral adipose tissue
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of the body's own growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and was developed by the Canadian company Theratechnologies. It consists of the complete 44-amino acid sequence of human GHRH, with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added to the N-terminal tyrosine. This small modification protects the peptide from rapid degradation by the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) – native GHRH is thus inactivated within minutes.
Tesamorelin became known through the phase III trial by Falutz et al. (New England Journal of Medicine, 2007): In 412 participants with HIV-associated lipid distribution disorder, visceral (internal abdominal) fat tissue decreased by 15.2 % after 26 weeks, while it increased by 5 % in the placebo group. US approval was granted in 2010 under the brand name Egrifta. A subsequent randomized study (Stanley et al., Lancet HIV, 2019) also demonstrated a relative reduction in liver fat content of 37 % compared to baseline. This 10 mg vial is suitable for research approaches related to the GH/IGF-1 axis, visceral fat tissue, and liver fat metabolism.
Mechanism of action
Tesamorelin binds to the GHRH receptor of somatotropic cells in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating the synthesis and pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone (GH). This, in turn, increases IGF-1 production in the liver. Unlike direct administration of growth hormone, this process preserves the physiological feedback loop via somatostatin. The effects on adipose tissue are primarily attributed to increased lipolysis—predominantly in visceral fat—with a subsequent reduction in triglyceride levels.

Reconstitution: Example calculation
For a working concentration of 10 mg/ml, the 10 mg vial is reconstituted with 1 ml of sterile bacteriostatic water (BAC water). Slowly inject the water along the inside of the vial and gently swirl it instead of shaking.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does tesamorelin differ from GLP-1 peptides such as retatrutide?
GLP-1-based peptides such as Retatrutide They act on appetite and blood sugar via incretin receptors. Tesamorelin works at a completely different point: It stimulates the body's own growth hormone release via the GHRH receptor and is primarily being researched in connection with visceral fat and liver fat.
Is Tesamorelin being researched in combination with other peptides?
In research, GHRH analogs are frequently used together with ghrelin mimetics such as Ipamorelin investigated because both are involved in GH release via different receptors, allowing synergistic effects to be detected.
Quality assurance
Each production batch undergoes independent dual testing: HPLC analysis to determine purity and LC-MS analysis to definitively verify molecular mass and correct peptide sequence. Only after passing this test is a batch released.
